

The Integrated Mangrove Ecology lab of SWIMS is recruiting a Research Assistant within the frame of the project “Are crabs early warning sentinels of ecological degradation in mangroves? A case study on heavy metal pollution in Hong Kong mangroves”.
The RA has to be able to start working in HKU in April and s/he will work on the direct correlation between heavy metal accumulation, physiological stress and enzymatic and biochemical metabolism of mangrove crab individuals from Hong Kong natural populations at sites characterised by increasing heavy metal pollution. Main skills needed are interest in mangrove environment, a good chemistry background, willing to learn the use of mass spectrometry and good knowledge of biochemistry.
